A Proposed Strategy, Successful Intelligence Theory, Depth of Knowledge, The Academic PassionAbstract
The aim of the research was to identify the effectiveness of a proposed strategy based on the theory of successful intelligence for teaching social studies in developing cognitive depth and academic passion among middle school students. The study relied on the quasi-experimental approach, where a dialogue unit was prepared in the first middle school grade using the proposed strategy based on the theory of successful intelligence, and a test was prepared for cognitive depth at the levels (remembering and reproducing - applying concepts and skills - strategic thinking), and a scale of academic passion (harmonious - acquisitive). The study was applied to a sample of (66) female students in the city of Sabya in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, divided into two groups, one of which was a control group and the other was an experimental group. The study found statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) in the total score of the cognitive depth test and the academic passion scale in favor of the students of the experimental group, and to verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy based on the theory of successful intelligence in developing levels of cognitive depth and dimensions of academic passion among first middle school female students. The study recommended the necessity of training teachers to use and employ the theory of successful intelligence in teaching and learning social studies.
