The role of secondary school principals in Al-Ahsa Governorate in promoting teachers' professional development in the light of the concept of teacher leadership

This study sought to explore the role of secondary school principals in Al-Ahsa Governorate in promoting teachers' professional development in the light of the concept of teacher leadership, and determine the extent to which the papticipants' perceptions of this role were influenced by their position. Data were collected through a questionnaire administered to a sample of 265 teachers and 38 principals in boys secondary schools in Al-Ahsa. The findings revealed that, according to the participants' views, the degree to which the principals assumed their role in promoting their teachers' professional development from the perspective of teacher leadership was generally high; with the "school management and leadersip" dimension ranking first, and the "teamwork and professional learning" dimension ranking second. The study also found statsitically significant differences in the perceptions of both teachers and principals of the role under investigation in favour of the principals group
