A Proposal based on developing self-management skills to improve academic performance and increasing opportunities of obtaining jobs for university students

This study aimed to recognize the reality of the college students practice of the self- management skills and its relationship with some variables in order to provide a suggested vision for the development of this practice in order to improve the students' academic performance and to increase their opportunities of obtaining a suitable job after graduation. The descriptive survey method was utilized in this study. The study population consisted of all the General Diploma in Education students at King Khalid University for the academic year 1438 AH, totaling 223 students. A questionnaire was administered for collecting data. The results of this study revealed that the self- management dimensions with their skills achieved an approval at the (Agree- to- some- extent) level. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences attributed to the college variable, while there were significant differences regarding the grade point average (GPA) favoring those with a high GPA. Results also indicated that the relationship between skill in self-management and opportunities to get a job achieved an approval at the t (Strongly Agree) level. A suggested vision for the development of this practice in order to improve the students' academic performance and to increase their opportunities of obtaining a suitable and successful job after graduation was presented.
