Abstract

The aim of this study was to define the role of university student activities in promoting the values of citizenship in the students, Jazan University as a model) by answering the question: To what extent do student activities offered at Jazan University contribute to the promotion of the values of citizenship among students? It was adopted in the treatment on the descriptive analytical approach, which is appropriate to the nature of the study and its objectives. A questionnaire was applied to a random sample of students participating in the student activities of the university, consisting of (820) students of both sexes and from various scientific disciplines. The study concluded that the participants agree that the student activities at Jazan University enhance the value of belonging to the homeland among the participating students, and contribute to enhancing the value of positive dialogue among the students and instilling in students the value of positive participation in community issues and aspirations. And reinforces the value of environmental conservation. The study also found that there were differences with a statistical function due to gender variable. All the differences were in favor of the sample group of male students at the expense of the sample group of students. And differences due to the variable specialization All the differences for the benefit of the group of study sample members of students with natural scientific disciplines at the expense of students with human and literary specialties.
