Abstract

This study aimed to study the thinking styles and their relationship with mental health among educational sciences females students at Princess Alia University College. A random sample of (138) females students was used. The study was conducted during the first semester of the academic year 2015/2016. In order to achieve the objectives the scale of Sterberg & Wanger (1992) for thinking styles and the scale of mental health developed by Al-akaishi (2004) were applied.

The results showed that the frequency of anarchic thinking style was dominated and the global thinking style was ranked the least additionally, mean score of mental health was medium. Furthermore, there was a significant positive correlation (P < 0.05) between the thinking styles (executive, hierarchic & conservative) and mental health. Also, females students' cumulative grade point average (ranked excellent) obtained significantly (p < 0.05) a higher mean score of mental health and thinking styles (executive, hierarchic, internal & conservative) compared with females students ranked very good, good and acceptable. It was suggested that the thinking styles related to mental health should be promoted.
