Abstract

The main intent of the current study was to determine the level of technical awareness of Saudi-university graduates in relation to such pertinent variables of gender, specialization and onset of the university therein. In order to render such a purpose, the researcher used the surveying method. He designed a scale for assessing technical awareness encompassing three dimensions (cognitive, social and moral). The scale was administered to a sample comprising (576) male and female graduates. Statistical analyses of the data available pinpointed the low level of technical awareness in general as represented by the selected sample. There were no statistically significant differences in performance due to gender, specialization and onset of the university. The researcher forwarded a crop of recommendations among which are the necessity for improving methods used in teaching university courses relating to technology via implementing such strategies and approaches which give momentum to various dimensions of technical awareness in a proper way. The researcher recommended also putting a great stress on such activities promoting awareness which bring into focus such effects of dealing with modern technologies.
