Measuring News Credibility on social media Compared to News on Television A Survey Study Applied to a Sample of the Sudanese Public

This study examined the cognitive problem represented by the confusing question: Which is more credible from the recipient’s point of view? Social media news or TV news?. The study aimed to measure the credibility of news - in its three dimensions: content, editor, and media - on social media compared to television.
To achieve this goal, the researcher relied on the survey method and used the Questionnaire to collect field information. The study was applied to a sample of the Sudanese public that was selected through a simple random sample, with a size of (385) male and female respondents. The study reached several results, the most important of which is superior Social media on television in terms of credibility of news content, editor, and medium. In terms of the credibility of the news content, the result recorded an arithmetic mean (3.5177), a standard deviation of (88897.), and a moderately high degree of relative importance of (70.4) in favor of news on social media. In terms of the credibility of the contact person (the editor), the result was with an arithmetic mean (2.5372), a standard deviation (93952), and a relative importance index (50.74) in favor of news content on social media as well. In terms of the reliability of the method, the result recorded an average.
