Abstract

This research aimed to uncover the construction of the complex paradox in the poetry of the Saudi poet Muhammad Al-Thubaiti by analyzing selected samples from his complete poetic works. Employing an objective artistic methodology, the research analyzed six main complex paradoxes that formed conflicting binary oppositions: life-death, dignity-humiliation, alienation-presence, hope-disappointment, destruction-survival, and rejection of urbanization-acceptance of Bedouinism. The research concluded that Al-Thubaiti has innovated unique and intricate forms of paradoxes, through which he revealed his vision of the world and his stances towards homeland, humanity, and life. Additionally, the research unveiled the semantic interrelationships between minor and major paradoxes, and how they contribute to the overall meaning of the complex paradox.
