Abstract

This research aims at investigating the reality of classroom management (CRM) skills among teachers of basic schools of the College of Education, Khartoum University. The investigation has been done in light of the basic education goals in the Sudan, and from the points of view of educational supervisors in Omdurman and Karary, as well as principals and vice-principals of the College of Education basic schools. The research has tried to answer its main question: what is the reality of performing CRM skills by teachers of basic schools of the College of Education, Khartoum University, in light of basic education goals in the Sudan? Three minor questions have also been investigated. The research used the analytical descriptive method with a sample of 41 respondents (22 supervisors and 19 principals and vice-principals). A questionnaire and an observation card have been designed in order to achieve the research objectives. Research finding several that for the first dimension, importance of CRM for teachers, the means are in the middle and above the middle. For the second dimension, practicing CRM skills, the means are in the middle and below the middle regarding both the questionnaire and observation card. And regarding the third dimension, development of the practices, the sample provides many suggestions for developing CRM skills. The research concludes with twelve recommendations including the need to provide teachers with lectures and workshops; providing the teachers with the necessary training on CRM; and establishing an educational supervision unit at the College of Education, Khartoum University to provide the training and follow-up for the teachers.
